Holy Crap
Big accusations being thrown around in Pittsfield.
Monahan, now 46, has told The Eagle in four face-to-face interviews over the past three months that he was fondled by [current Sheriff] Massimiano as a 7-year-old in 1971 and then again in 1976. Monahan also brought up the 1971 allegation during a live radio broadcast last month.Not pretty. ¶ 8:43 AM

Massimiano took out a full page ad in today's Eagle to tell his side of the story. In its lopsided coverage, for some reason it has not printed but a few sentences of Massimiano's response (perhaps because he did not call the Eagle back when the story broke).
I am not sure what is going on here, so I will give this story time to unfold. It has probably destroyed his reputation because so many voters are just headline readers and make snap judgements.
I think the fact that he had to take out an ad to respond to the destructive accusations says volumes about how far the Eagle has strayed from objective reporting.
Sad, isn't it. It seems there is a network of influence peddlers most of us are not privy to.
