  Time to Kick Him Out
Why does Joe Lieberman still hold any seniority in the Democratic Caucus?
In a surprise setback for Democratic leaders, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut, said on Sunday that he would vote against the health care legislation in its current form.
Seriously. If he insists on making the healthcare debate "all about what Joe wants" he needs to find a new political home. It's time for him to lose his chairmanship.

I wonder how many Dems in CT wish they had voted for Ned Lamont in November '06?

And while we're at it, let's roll back the rules on the Senate filibuster to their 19th century version. If the GOP wants to play games on every issue, at least make them take the field to defend their position.

Couldn't agree more, mon frere. I wanna see people reading the phone book on the floor of the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.

And to top it off, let's pass real comprehensive health care reform through the reconciliation process. That would do what Lieberman, Ben Nelson, et al hate more than anything else - make them irrelevant.

This political season has been the final nail in the coffin of my political interest. This country elected a president with a clear mandate and message, and congress (both sides of the isle) has done nothing but look for ways to line their pockets.

There is not even a choice between the lesser of two evils - they are all equally evil. Voting them out of office doesn't do any good because there is another crook ready to step right in.

How can anyone believe we do not live in a free market society - congress goes to the highest bidder every day.

I think the Republicans would be happy right now with the system where they could run out the clock with filibuster speeches. They are in fact using a similar tactic (demanding the reading of some of the left's long amendments) to prevent a final vote before Christmas.
