The Transcript Endorsement I am pleased to announce that The North Adams Transcript has endorsed me for City Council.
Just remember, endorsements and lawns signs don't vote - people do! Get to the polls on Tuesday!

I wouldn't call that an endorsement, but then clearly they are trying to set up a council that would be favorable to Mayor Barrett.
Any guesses on who they are going to endorse for mayor?
I gave up reading the Transcript a long time ago. They appear, to me, to be too far in the Mayor's pocket. Clearly they rely on spell check for their proof-reading. I find I get more information from iBerkshires.com.
I think the reports at the Transcript do a good job, but it takes a lot of room to put a good spin on the Mayor's actions which obviously eats into a reporters space.
That's just Drohan's odd sense of humor in the endorsement.
That said, I don't agree with all his picks, but aside from my open support of Mike Boland and Dave Bond, I've kept my opinions on the council races to myself.
I don't think there is any mystery to the mayoral endorsement. I would bet a six pack that he will endorse Barrett tomorrow unless his publisher overrules him.
As for the reporting on the city that The Transcript does, it is pretty simple that they just don't have the resources anymore to do anything beyond the basics. There are days that Huberdeau has three stories to cover. There is absolutely no way she can do the kind of journalistic leg work that some stories need. So, instead we get summaries of the issues and lots of 'he said, she said.' That's it.
That is just the reality of news market these days.
