McCain's Speech

My reaction to McCain's convention speech is exactly the opposite of the reaction I had to his running mate's: The content, while generic, was solid, but the delivery really sucked.

Nothing I have seen in the last two days has changed my bet that Obama will win by several states.

I agree, the speech was dull and full of rehashed talking points with no real substance. All I could think about was "Trust me, the check is in the mail". What worries me most is that there are people out there that will actually vote for him.

I really liked it when he pretended to fall asleep to cue the applause lines. All the delegates would leap out of their chairs and cheer to wake him up again.

That creepy smile thing he does leaves me cold, though. It looks like his dentures are trying to escape.

Watching Republicans whoop it up gives me the creeps. Reminds me of the Savannah Golf Club that all my friends parents belonged to. I haven't been about to stomach the Republican convention, so I didn't see Maverick Mouth talk.

Listening to McCain and Palin's' faux populist gibberish, you would never have known that the Republicans have used their titanic power to lead the country to its present sorry state.

But on their version of the good ship Lollypop, the passengers are the all-day suckers, with memories shorter than that of goldfish.
